Where Can I Find Career Training in Michigan?

Career Training in Michigan

On any given day, there could be more than 100,000 available jobs in Michigan1 –if you have the right training. Whether you’re looking for career training to advance in your current position or you’re hoping to totally change careers, career training can give you a competitive edge.

Before you choose a career training school in Michigan, though, you’ll need to decide on your career path. Do you want to work in Business, Healthcare, Information Technology, or the Legal field? There are so many choices. Consider your natural abilities and talents. What are you already really good at? Then, think about the kind of work environment that might be a good fit for you and the kind of people you’d like to work with.

Once you have an idea of the job you want, check online to find which schools offer programs that will provide you with the training you’ll need. Visit their websites –and then visit them. Talk to their Admissions Representative and ask lots of questions. Here are just three things you’ll want to consider:

Are they accredited? Accreditation ensures that the school you choose is licensed by the State of Michigan and that it adheres to strict guidelines for quality and integrity in career education. Accrediting organizations require that schools offer proof that they are serving their students well. Schools are held accountable to a variety of enrollment, education, financial, graduation and job placement standards. They are also required to undergo regular reviews from the accrediting body.

Do they teach the way you learn? If you’re a visual learner, don’t choose a school that has a lecture-only format. Do you learn best by doing something yourself? Then select a school that gives you both instruction and opportunity to try out what they’ve taught you. Whether you’re working on a computer in an IT program or taking patient vital signs in a medical assistant program, rolling up your sleeves and actually performing the tasks you would do out on the job will better prepare you for the real thing.

Do they offer options for on-campus and online instruction? If you think that getting to campus for classes every day might be an obstacle for you, make certain the program you choose gives you the chance to learn online. Some programs are offered completely online and others give you the opportunity to get hands-on training and online instruction. Blended learning might be the best of both worlds for you.
