If you’re interested in the law, attaining a paralegal degree in Michigan may be closer than you realize. At Career Quest Learning Centers in Lansing and Jackson, you could train to become a paralegal in as little as 15 months. Are you ready to get started?
Here’s what to consider:
Teaching Method: Programs that rely solely on old-school lectures miss the point. Many students find traditional classroom settings with lecture-only instruction difficult and boring. It can be hard to learn that way; it’s also not the way the real world operates anymore. Technology is vital to the today’s legal system. If you don’t understand the computers and programs used in the modern legal office, and have a chance to work on them, how are you going to compete?
At Career Quest Learning Centers, we use lectures and labs. You’ll get to work on programs that you could find in an actual law office. You’ll get some on-the-job training while you’re still in the classroom. Then, you’ll get the chance to perform tasks of the profession and observe the inner workings of a real law firm when you go out on your externship. You learn, then do.
Instructors: Our instructors are professionals from the field who aren’t just passionate about the legal world. They’re also passionate about our students. They want you to succeed! And they’ll help you with lots of personalized attention. When you have questions, they have answers. When you have concerns, they’re there to help you overcome obstacles to reach your goals.
Degrees: So do you need a degree to become a paralegal? Michigan doesn’t require you to have a degree, but many law firms will. Training as a legal secretary or attaining an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Paralegal Studies demonstrates to future employers that you’re ready to get to work on day one. You’ll need—and want—to learn all you can about how your firm does things, but program completion will provide you with the solid foundation you need to get started in a paralegal career.
