Career Quest Welcomes New Students

Facing new situations can be challenging. Even when you know you’re making a right move for your future, you are apt to still feel a little uneasy as you enter your new world. That’s why at Career Quest Learning Centers, we encourage our new students to get to know one another in and out of the classroom  –and even help you do just that!

At last week’s meet-and-greets held on both our Jackson and Lansing campuses, new students had the opportunity to mingle with one another, while also getting to know some of our veteran students and faculty members.

In Lansing, students enjoyed pizza and drinks while learning about all that the school has to offer. Put together by the Student Association, the event allowed new students to hear about some of the important activities the organization does throughout the year.

“Our Student Association is very active,” said Campus President Melissa Soderberg. “They run all sorts of activities during the year like our Spring Fling and our participation in Relay for Life.”

According to Melissa, the Student Association also raises money for Career Quest students in need and helps connect students for ride share so they can get to campus.

The Jackson student mixer, held on February 4th, offered students the opportunity to enjoy some treats throughout the day while they got to know new and old students in the first week of school.

Campus President Amber Deel says that the Admissions Department tries to foster an environment that makes students feel welcome.

“Our faculty is also very supportive,” said Amber. “They encourage students to stop and grab a coffee or hot chocolate and some cookies during the course of the day.”

Amber says that students enjoy getting to know other students who are in their programs, but also appreciate the chance to meet people who are not.

“These events are always pretty well-attended,” said Amber. “The students get to know each other and we get to know them.”

“I am a completely different person than when I started my program. I have so much more confidence now. I really think I can do anything if I put my mind to it. Before I started here, I wasn’t very happy with my life. Now I’m smiling all the time.”

“They give you what you need and they help you along the way, no matter what struggles you have.”
