Administrative Professionals Week: A Big Thank You!

Administrative Professional's Week EmployeesWe’re celebrating Administrative Professionals Week here at Career Quest Learning Centers because we know we’d be lost without our own dedicated support staff. Our administrative professionals are vital members of the Career Quest family and help keep everything running smoothly for our students, faculty and staff and we want to give them a great big thank you!

Among the many important tasks that administrative professionals perform on their jobs are clerical activities like bookkeeping, invoicing and filing. They work with software such as Microsoft Word and Excel and QuickBooks to communicate, organize and assist the companies they work for. They often act as receptionists, greeting people and directing them to where they need to be and answering phones and taking messages. They also work with other staff members and vendors, and are among the most recognized faces at any company. Administrative professionals are sometimes even in charge of organizing meetings and events, and may be called upon to handle travel arrangements.

It’s easy to see why administrative professionals are so valued, but did you know that their contribution has be acknowledged for more than 60 years now? Back when these hard working office personnel were more commonly referred to as secretaries, a publicist working for an advertising agency thought secretaries deserved recognition and also wanted to encourage more people to choose the profession. Harry F. Klemfuss played a pivotal role in creating National Secretaries day in 1952, which would later take on the name of Administrative Professionals Day.

We agree that one day just isn’t enough time to celebrate these valued professionals. This year, April 19-25 is National Administrative Professionals week and we’re saying thank you to all of our staff and everyone else out there who has chosen this important and rewarding career.

Here’s a special thank you to:

Lansing: Scott Meek and Jaymi Walters

Jackson: Tamikee Jennings and Sara Carpenter
