The Career Quest Learning Centers Jackson campus hosted its first Alumni Social last month and it was a great success. The free event, held at Chase Sports Bar in Jackson, was an opportunity for graduates and faculty to reconnect off campus in a fun and casual environment.
According to campus president Amber Deel, graduates often come back to campus to visit faculty, but providing a set time and place makes it easier for everyone.
“These socials will give our alumni an opportunity to reconnect with the school,” said Amber. “We want to foster a sense of loyalty and to create a dedicated following of graduates, their friends and family.”
Amber said that the program graduates who attended April’s social included those from Network Administration, Medical Assisting and more. Most all of them said that they came to say thank you to the instructors who had helped them succeed.
Based on the success of this first social, the Jackson campus plans to hold alumni socials twice a year, scheduling them between graduations. Amber expects them to grow in popularity as word gets out that graduates have a chance to share food and drinks with their former instructors and other members of the Career Quest family.
“By engaging our alumni beyond graduation, we are strengthening our ties with our students,” said Amber. “We are also creating an opportunity to continue to extend services that we offer our students after graduation, such as auditing classes and career services assistance.”
Amber added that the events will also be a chance for faculty and staff to hear about what graduates are currently doing and to learn about all the Career Quest success stories.
