Shelley White-Thomas Hired as Business & Legal Instructor

Shelley White-Thomas has been hired as a Business & Legal Instructor for Career Quest Learning Centers (CQLC) in Jackson.

In this role, White-Thomas prepares students for careers supporting lawyers, which includes preparation for hearings, trials and corporate meetings by reviewing and organizing documents; preparing written reports and legal arguments; and conducting research.

White-Thomas has been a practicing attorney since graduating from Wayne State University Law School in Detroit in 2003. She earned her MBA in Global Management from the University of Phoenix and her BA in Political Science from Albion College. She has been teaching law courses at various schools throughout Michigan since 2009.

“I’m very excited to get to see students grow and develop their skills and confidence in the areas of business and law,” she said. “Seeing them bloom right before my eyes is extremely rewarding.”

White-Thomas is a member of the Jackson County Bar Association, American Association of Notaries; Elder Law Section of State Bar of Michigan; Probate & Estate Planning Section of State Bar of Michigan; Corrections and Prisons Section of State Bar of Michigan; Irish Hills Chamber of Commerce; Kids 'N Stuff Museum Annual Fundraiser Committee; American Association of University Women, Albion Chapter; Jackson Rotary Club; Woman’s Life Chapter 820, Port Huron; Order of Eastern Star, Queen of the North Chapter #82, Sault Ste. Marie; Algonquin United Methodist Church; American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 3; and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Auxiliary, Post 9023.

She is also an Accredited Attorney for the Preparation, Presentation, and Prosecution of Claims for Veterans Benefits before the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), as well as a state of Michigan Notary Public. She provides pro bono services for veterans through Project SALUTE (Students and Lawyers Assisting U.S. Troops Everywhere with Federal Benefits).
