Jennifer Shumaker has been hired as a business instructor by the Career Quest Learning Centers (CQLC) campus in Lansing. The CQLC skills-based courses take students from any entry point and give them the computer and office skills that business employers expect from today’s job applicants. In her role, Shumaker works with students who are interested in small business training, teaching them the PC office applications that allow them to apply for a wide number of jobs.
“Watching students creating their own success is very fulfilling, and I leave the campus each day knowing I was able to make someone's day brighter,” said Shumaker. “It's hard to find a place where not only is education a priority, but so is the overall success of each student and staff member. Career Quest has an amazing culture where each and every person who walks through the door is valued and cared for.”
Shumaker has worked in education since earning her BA in elementary education from Michigan State University in 2003, working in various positions for Sylvan Learning Center, Ingham Intermediate School District, Eaton Intermediate School District and Lansing School District. She has also earned a Special Education Endorsement from Walden University in 2010.
She has also been involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters Capital Area Region for more than three years and stays active in their local endeavors. You can often find her hiking, reading or enjoying the company of family and friends.
