Career Quest Learning Centers Front Line Features: Meet Natalie—Registered Medical Assistant

Natalie signed up for the medical assistant program at Career Quest in 2019. In April 2020, she graduated from the program and was ready to take on the world! Around this time, the coronavirus pandemic was making its way across the country—and medical professionals like Natalie were ready to rise to the occasion.

When asked what prompted Natalie to pursue her career and education in healthcare, she had a few motivating factors, including her love for the field, her family, and her children. She wanted to show her children “at any age, you can return to school and be successful.”

Natalie works at Medical Associates in Mt. Pleasant as a medical assistant. “My favorite part about what I do is providing amazing patient care and learning more and more each day,” she says.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, life for her has changed. She says that work not related to COVID-19 has slowed down, so she’s able to pay close attention to details during her day-to-day. “At home, my kiddos see how hard I work and are asking what I do. We have all gotten closer during this time.”

Natalie’s advice to those thinking of entering the healthcare field is to go for it.

I would tell them to jump on in! While this is a scary time because you can get this virus anywhere, the knowledge you gain is life-changing.

Natalie says the pandemic has motivated her to work harder and more often. The Career Quest community thanks Natalie for her courage and resilience. It’s graduates like her that most embody the values of our institution. Thank you for your service to your community, Natalie!
