Student Faq Career Quest Closing

UPDATED 9/17/2021 12:29 P.M. Read below for answers to frequently asked questions for students regarding the closing of Career Quest Learning Centers.

When is Career Quest’s last day?

Career Quest is ceasing operations on the last day of the current module, September 17th. If you are a student who planned to start externship on 9/20, reach out to your Career Services team for information at careerservices@careerquest.edu.

Where can I request my transcripts?

You may request your transcripts here.

Can I transfer to another school?

Career Quest has been working diligently to provide students with options for transfer. See below for a list of teach-out partners and institutions that will accept Career Quest credits.

*If you are interested in transferring to an institution that is not listed below, please inquire with them directly about accepting Career Quest credits. Every school is different and ultimately it is up to the institution that you apply to.

 Ross Education: Career Quest has developed a teach-out partnership with Ross that is designed to provide a streamlined transfer process from a Career Quest program to a Ross program. For more information, visit the Ross FAQ. Ross Education would be a good option for students in these Career Quest programs:

  • Medical Assistant
  • Medical Billing & Coding
  • Ophthalmic Assistant
  • Medical Office Administration (AAS)
  • Administrative Assistant

University of Advancing Technology: if you are an IT or Business student at Career Quest, UAT will be accepting credits toward one of their Associate or Bachelor’s programs. If you are interested in learning more details about the specifics of the transfer process with UAT, you can start by scheduling a free transfer evaluation with the contacts listed below. You may also send your transcripts in via email to transfers@uat.edu. UAT may be a good fit for students in the following programs:

  • Administrative Assistant
  • Business Administration (AAS)

DeVry University: DeVry University seeks to recognize college level academic work completed by Career Quest IT and Business students who are looking to transfer into one of their Associate programs. If you are interested in learning more about DeVry and the options that are available to you, please contact their Regional Dean of Campus & University Partnerships, Abel Okagbare, at aokagbare@devry.edu with any questions. DeVry University may be a good fit for students in the following programs:

  • Network Administration
  • Network Administration (AAS)
  • Administrative Assistant
  • Business Administration (AAS)

Lansing Community College: Career Quest is working with Lansing Community College to develop transfer options for students in our HVAC-R program. If you are interested in learning more about what LCC has to offer, please reach out to Professor of HVAC/R Technology Matt Dunham to speak to discuss  any questions you may have. LCC would be a great option for students in the following program:

  • Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R)

Bellevue University: Bellevue University and Career Quest Learning Centers have an articulation agreement for Bellevue to accept Career Quest credits toward a Bachelors degree. If you are interested in learning more about the specifics of transferring to Bellevue, there is a Transfer Days event being held on Tuesday, September 21 and also on Thursday, September 23, where students can meet with Bellevue staff and ask any questions that they have. You can sign up for a Transfer Days event here. For more information on Bellevue University and their programs, visit their website bellevue.edu. They have Bachelor options available for every program that Career Quest offers.

Mid Michigan College: Mid Michigan College will assist students interested in earning transfer credits for their academic work completed at Career Quest. They offer similar programs including Administrative Assistant, Business Management, IT Infrastructure & Cybersecurity, Medical Assistant, and HVAC-R. If you’d like to learn more about what Mid Michigan College has to offer, please visit this link and get in touch with the contact listed below. Mid Michigan College may be a good fit for students in the following programs:

  • Administrative Assistant
  • Business Administration AAS
  • Network Administration
  • Network Administration AAS
  • Medical Assistant
  • HVAC-R (located at their Harrison, MI campus)

*Students also have the option to reach out to any schools that they are interested in directly, and inquire with them about accepting Career Quest credits. Every school is different and ultimately it is up to the school that you apply to.

Will my credits transfer to another school?

Yes, to Career Quest’s teach-out partners such as Ross Education. For institutions that are not a Career Quest teach-out partner, you will need to inquire with the school you are interested in directly for what credits they accept.

I only have one module left before I graduate. Can I continue with Career Quest?

Unfortunately, Career Quest is ceasing operations as of September 17th, the last day of this module. If you planned to be starting externship on 9/20, please reach out to your Career Services team at CQ for more information. careerservices@careerquest.edu

I only have externship left after the end of this module. Can I continue with Career Quest?

If you are an extern for the 9/20 start date, please reach out to your Career Services team at Career Quest as soon as possible for details. careerservices@careerquest.edu

This is my last mod and I am finished before September 17th. Do I still graduate?

Yes, all students with an end date prior to 9/17 will be graduates of Career Quest and receive their diplomas or degrees in the mail.

Since Career Quest is closing, will my diploma/degree still be valid?

Yes, if you are a graduate of Career Quest Learning Centers your diploma or degree will still be valid. You can request your transcripts here.

What happens with my student loans if I decide not to transfer to a teach-out partner or to another institution to complete my education?

You may be eligible to have your federal student loans discharged.  Federal regulations allow all students impacted by an institution’s closure to apply for a loan discharge.  The discharge option is designed to assist students who were enrolled at the institution at the time of the closure or students who recently attended the institution but were unable to complete their program due to the closure of their institution.  Please review the U.S. Department of Education’s links below to make sure you understand your loan discharge options:
