I decided to go to school so that I knew my son would have a secured future.

Meet Courtney L., Career Quest Medical Assistant student. Courtney has worked throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and enjoys her job, ensuring proper care to patients at a crisis residential unit in Oscada, MI. Her favorite part about the field she is working in is helping people in any way that she can. “You need to be patient, compassionate, and understanding,” says Courtney, offering advice to those who are thinking about entering the healthcare field. When asked about her experience in the MA program at Career Quest, Courtney says she enjoyed “the different hands on skills that we had the opportunity to learn”. “I enjoyed every bit of it, although we didn’t finish the program the way we thought we were going to- we managed our way through,” she says.
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought challenges to the traditional classroom structure, and students like Courtney have powered through a pivot to virtual learning. “It was a benefit for me so I could spend more time at home with my family,” she says. Career Quest is thankful for students and graduates like Courtney who have stayed strong in their commitment to keep learning, growing, and helping others, even during these unforeseen times. Keep on keeping on, Courtney!
