Medical Assistant Star Student
How Did Michelle Z. Become a Medical Assistant Star Student?
After graduating high school in 2011, Michelle Z. tried going to college right away like so many other people her age. However, focusing on her schoolwork was tough—especially when so much of what she was learning didn’t seem relevant to what she really wanted to do.
Dropping out was the right decision at the time, but after a few years, Michelle knew she was ready to return. With one child in preschool and another right behind her, Michelle’s big goal was to contribute more and provide a good future for her family.
She’d seen Career Quest’s ads on TV and had recognized her old school friends in ads. Could this be the solution for her?
Busy Moms Need Flexible Learning
Michelle wondered how she’d make time for schoolwork and her family. Her previous college experience wasn’t very flexible, but she soon learned that Career Quest was different.
“I really love that everything we learn is specifically for my career choice—unlike going to bigger colleges, where you’re taking a bunch of classes that don’t pertain to your career.”
The curriculum’s high relevance keeps her workload manageable and—better yet—always interesting. She loves everything that she’s learning and can put in all the necessary study and homework time after her kids go to bed.
A Solid Support System Makes All the Difference
Even though her own passion to build a better future and land a satisfying new career fueled Michelle, the support of her family definitely helps. The major credit goes to her husband, who always helps with the kids so she can go to class and finish her homework on time. Thanks in part to him, she’s achieved a high GPA and perfect attendance!
“The teachers are amazing, and I love that they are there to see you succeed. I look forward to going to class every day.”
The teachers have become vital to her support system too. Their accessibility and helpfulness have become Michelle’s favorite things about Career Quest.
Unlocking Her Passion
With the support of family, friends, and helpful instructors, Michelle has been able to dive into her studies completely.
Helping others in the medical field—especially children—has been a passion of Michelle’s since she was young. She began having ear problems at the age of five. Over the course of 23 years, she has undergone two ear reconstructions and had countless tubes put in.
Michelle wanted to understand how everything worked and help others in the process. The Medical Assistant program at Career Quest offers the opportunity to do both. When asked where she sees herself in five years, she said working in a pediatrics office, making the difference she craves.

“You can do it. I know you may think you don’t have time, but if it is important for you, you will find time.”
