Andrew Harmon

Medical Assistant Student

Already a paramedic, Andrew was planning to enter a nursing program at a local community college, but he hit a barrier when facing their prerequisites and their unwillingness to work with him.

He says Career Quest was the answer he was looking for. “Coming here to Career Quest has worked with my schedule and opened up opportunities for me,” he says. “The instructors are great, they care about us, they know what’s going on. I’ve got a wife and kid at home as well, and CQ just fits in with family life, work life and everything.”

One of the things he appreciates is how the lessons are organized. “The curriculum has its challenges, but it’s laid out in a way that’s easy to understand,” he says. “My previous schooling that I had lumped everything together, which was sort of a mass confusion as to what was going on.”

The Medical Assistant student says the Career Quest program will allow him to do what he does best, help people with compassion and care. “I enjoy working with people, I enjoy helping others,” he says. “The MA program here allows me to continue what I started in the clinical setting.”

“I would definitely recommend CQ to anyone who is looking to change career paths or looking to come back to school.”

“This program is good because it’s daily, it doesn’t give you time for slack. There is also lots of hands-on help, you’re not just left to do it all on your own. I was in college before and it just didn’t work out. Career Quest worked for me.”

“If anyone’s looking to get into an office setting, this is a great start because you can get all those basic computer skills that employers are looking for."
