Charles Dunn

Network Administration Student

At the age of 44, Charles was working a job that was comfortable and paid all of his family’s bills. But the thought of working at that job for the next 20 to 25 years was scarier than the idea of going back to school, so he took the plunge. He signed up for Career Quest’s Network Administration program and he’s never looked back. “I had one instructor and he made coming to class every day enjoyable,” Charles says. “He’s extremely smart, he can translate what he knows into terms and teach people that don’t know everything yet to make it easy for them to learn.” Charles also appreciated the blended learning format, which allowed him to come to school two days a week and then do work outside of the classroom. “As someone with a family, I could be home to take care of the kids,” he says. “Then I could take my laptop out and my books out and start doing school work.” He interviewed for a job through a Career Quest referral, and was offered it. “I love the work, it gives me the opportunity to meet new people, to use what I learned here and learn new things daily,” he says. “I like to help people and that’s just a small way I can do that in my everyday work life.”

“I had achieved my goal even before school was done.”

SUCCESS STORY

“They personally know you and I think that’s the difference between a community college and Career Quest.”

SUCCESS STORY

“I tried community college and it was not for me; I was just overwhelmed. I learn better in small groups. At Career Quest, it was almost like a family. Everyone’s willing to help one another and the teachers are awesome. I’ll be sad to leave!”
