Jessica Graves

Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), Lansing Campus
Jessica is like many students who want to move up in the world but can’t just quit everything in life to go back to school full-time. She’s busy with full-time work in the memory care unit of an assisted living facility. She also has three small children to care for, a full load! Jessica chose the combined CNA/PCT program because it was concentrated learning she could complete in a short period of time – just six weeks for the combined program.

Jessica had tried a community college program before but wasn’t able to complete it. At Career Quest, she’s been setting attendance records and getting rewarded for it, literally. She earned the $20 for perfect attendance in her program for the first session and hopes to earn it again. “I like how you’re rewarded here for doing what you want to do anyway.” There are also some cash award points for achieving high grades.

“Before I came here, I used to hate school. At Career Quest, they make you really love learning.”

Jessica's advice to other students: Take advantage of everything that’s offered to you – free tutoring, advising – career development help. The instructors are more than willing to help people who want to be helped.”

“The instructors at Career Quest are awesome,” she said. “I couldn’t have done this on my own. They really do set you up to succeed.”

SUCCESS STORY

“This program is good because it’s daily, it doesn’t give you time for slack. There is also lots of hands-on help, you’re not just left to do it all on your own. I was in college before and it just didn’t work out. Career Quest worked for me.”

SUCCESS STORY

“I was working in a factory for 13 years when I got laid off. I needed to do something totally different and I started at Career Quest. Now I’m teaching here. I love it. “
