Sierra K.

Administrative Office Professional
Sierra’s success story begins with two smart moves: moving back to the Great Lakes State and choosing Career Quest.

“I had just recently moved back to Michigan and started working as a manager for a former employer. Some things had happened and I actually lost my position. I wanted to further my career using my mind, so I knew Career Quest was for me.”

With her mind set on business, she enrolled in a business certificate program. From the very start, she felt at home. “The instructors were amazing. They just helped keep me there, keep me focused, let me know that even if you haven’t been here for 20 years, you can do this. And they helped build my self esteem and helped build my confidence.”

Though Sierra’s computer skills were not exactly a confidence booster in the beginning, she has since flourished, landing a computer-based job with the Lansing School District. “I was very computer illiterate until I came here. By the end of the first week of my externship, I had letters of recommendation waiting for me. I was able to prove that through school here, I was able to acquire the knowledge I needed to, to fill the position they had available.”

Sierra’s words of wisdom for potential students: “Believe in yourself. Know that you can do this. You are worth it. This is your future.”
